Letter 2: To the One Struggling with Anxiety Every Day

I know how hard it is to wake up each morning with a heavy heart, feeling like a storm is brewing inside your mind.

The racing thoughts, the tightness in your chest, the fear that never really leaves, it can feel exhausting.

Some days, even the simplest tasks seem impossible.

You might wonder, Will this ever get better? Will I always feel this way?

I want you to know that you are not alone.

So many people battle anxiety, even if they don’t talk about it.

And no matter how strong its grip feels right now, anxiety does not define you.

It is something you are experiencing, not who you are.

Take a deep breath. Right now, in this moment, you are safe.

I won’t tell you to “just stop worrying” or “think positive.” I know it’s not that simple. But here’s what I do want to tell you:

  1. You are stronger than your anxiety: Even on your hardest days, you are still here, still trying. That is strength.
  2. Your feelings are valid, but they are not always facts: Anxiety makes you believe the worst, but not everything it tells you is true.
  3. You don’t have to fight this alone: Talk to someone you trust. A friend, a loved one, a coach. You deserve support.

Now, let’s take small steps:

  • Breathe deeply: Try inhaling for four seconds, holding for four, and exhaling for four. Do this a few times. It helps.
  • Ground yourself in the present: Name five things you see, four things you can touch, three things you hear, two things you smell, and one thing you taste.
  • Move your body: A short walk, yoga, stretching, or even shaking out your hands can release tension.
  • Be kind to yourself: Speak to yourself the way you would comfort a dear friend.

Anxiety may be part of your life for a moment, but it does not control your life. You are capable. You are worthy. And you will get through this, just take one step at a time.
